Here at Liberty Baptist Church we make no apology for being an old fashioned Church. We believe very strongly in the old time way. Our beliefs are based on the Word of God, and not on a modernistic world view. We believe that truth does not change with the culture, but that culture should stay in line with the truth. The following is a list of some of the most basic doctrinal positions we hold at our church. Though it is not a complete list, we hope it will give you an idea of the kind of church we are striving to be.
~ SALVATION ~
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is a free gift to all those who will come to Christ by faith. We believe that salvation is separate from "works" of any kind. We believe that once a person is saved, they are kept eternally saved by the Holy Spirit, independent of their own efforts. So yes, we are a "Once saved, always saved" kind of Church.
Romans 6:23; 1 John 5:13; John 10:28; John 3:36; John 5:24; John 6:47; Ephesians 2:8,9; Titus 3:5; John 3:16; Romans 5:1
~ HOLINESS ~
We believe that every Christian should strive to live a life of holiness and separation from the world. We reject all forms of worldliness and modernism in our church. We do not believe in "contemporary" music in our services or special music. We use the hymnal for congregational singing and we like it that way! We believe a Christian should look, act, and behave different from the world.
1 Peter 1:15; 2Corinthians 7:1; 1Thessalonians 4:7; 2 Peter 3:11; 2Corinthians 6:17
~ SOULWINNING ~
We believe that it is the responsibility of every Christian to be a soulwinner. This command, we commonly refer to as the Great Commission was given to the entire church. The Church is made up of individuals and therefore the Great Commission is an individual command. At our Church we promote, teach and practice the job of individual soulwinning. We have many times throughout the week when you will have the opportunity to go out two by two and tell others about the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Proverbs 11:30; Daniel 12:3
~ THE LOCAL CHURCH ~
We believe that Jesus started the Church during his earthly ministry. We believe that the organization Jesus began was that of the "local" church. We reject the doctrine of the "Universal Church". We are a complete church, independent of all outside ecclesiatical control. We are Baptist in name and doctrine, but are not part of any denomination and have no denominational headquarters other than Heaven.
~ THE BIBLE ~
We believe that the Bible "is" the Word of God. We believe that God inspired and preserved His divine words and that we have the inspired and preserved words in the King James Bible. We do not believe that the Bible was only the Word of God in the "originals" We do not believe that we have only a translation of God's Words, but that we have the very Words of God. Here at Liberty Baptist Church we use nothing other than the King James Bible, and believe that it is the very Word of God. We believe that it is alive, quick, powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword!
2 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 4:12; Matthew 24:35
