About Us

Liberty Baptist Church is an independent congregation.  We believe that the New Testament Church may have fellowship with other Churches, but should not be part of any denominational control.  We take our instruction from the Word of God and believe that God has a great task for us to accomplish.

At Liberty, our motto is “Set Free to Serve”.  This motto comes from Galatians 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

Our desire is to help believers understand that through Christ we have been set free to serve God by serving others.  We believe that the grace of God is not for the purpose of serving ourselves, but for the purpose of empowering us to serve others.

We believe doctrine is of the utmost importance.  The following is a basic list of the doctrines that we believe. This is not intended to be an exhaustive list, but to give the reader an idea of who we are and what we believe.  Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask us when you visit.

The Scriptures:
We believe that the Bible was written by men under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, and that it has been divinely preserved perfect and without error.  We believe that the King James Bible is the Word of God for the English speaking people.  It is the official Bible of our Church.

The True God:
We believe the Bible teaches that there is only one true and living God.  His name is Jehovah.

We believe that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh and that He was God from eternity past.  We believe He was born of a virgin and lived a sinless life.

We believe God is a person, eternally existing. There is one true God existing in the unity of the Godhead. There are three eternal and coequal persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. They are the same substance but distinct in subsistence. There is one Godhead made up of three persons who are the same in attributes, power, characteristics and desires.

Way of Salvation:
We believe that salvation is wholly by grace through faith without any mixture of works or law.  Salvation is the gift of God.  A man must recognize his sinful, lost condition and turn to Christ for salvation.  Once saved, a man is eternally kept by the power of God.

The Local Church:
We believe the Bible teaches that those who are saved are placed into the body of Christ.  However, we believe that during this time, God has ordained that believers be a part of a visible, local assembly of believers.  Local churches are an important part of the Christian life, and we encourage all believers to unite with a local congregation for edification, accountability, and service in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We believe the Scriptures teach that the Devil is a fallen angel of God.  He is called the prince of the power of the air.  He is the accuser of the brethren.  He will one day be judged by God and cast into the lake of fire for all eternity.

The Return of Christ:
We believe in the Rapture of the Church and the Second Coming of Christ.  We believe the Lord will “rapture” the believers from this earth before the Great Tribulation.  After the seven year Great Tribulation the Lord will return with his Saints and set up his millennial Kingdom. This will be the Second Coming.

Soulwinning and the Great Commission:
We believe that the Bible teaches the responsibility of every believer to take the God to the lost.  This responsibility involved their neighborhood and extends to the entire world.  After reaching the lost with the Gospel, the new convert is to be baptized and trained to follow Christ.

We believe that giving is an essential of the Christian life.  We believe that New Testament giving goes far beyond just giving the tithe.  We believe every member should faithfully support their Local Church with their giving, and then seek to honor the Lord with their substance as He directs them.

We believe that marriage was defined by God in Genesis as the union of one man and one woman.  We believe that human sexuality was intended by God to be expressed between a man and woman in the bonds of holy matrimony.  All other forms of sexuality are outside of the Scriptures and have no place in the body of Christ.
